My Story

Introduction

The bumper sticker read, Life is Good. I am sure the guy in the Range Rover that was sporting the sticker felt that life is good. There was a time that I would have taken great offense at that bumper sticker. There was a time that life was so bad for me that thoughts of suicide brought the only hope.

That seems like life times ago, now. Today, I would like to find a bumper sticker that says, Life is Perfect.

What has change? I still do not drive a Range Rover or can even afford the tires on one. What HAS changed is me, I am different today.

Many years ago, when I was at the lowest and darkest time of my life, I made a fateful decision; I went looking for a better way. I could have just accepted my lot in life, hoped for a better time or waited for somebody to save me from my misery, but I did not. I took responsibility for my life and took action to find out how I was creating such a miserable time for myself.

This book is about that journey. It is food for thought. I hope to inspire the reader to seek for themselves until they find their Heaven, Nirvana, Eden or Perfection. Most of all, I want to an inspiration and encouragement to others.

I believe that I have several unique insights to bring to spiritual process:

  • One of these insights is understanding the physiology of spirituality, which will demystify the process of what is happening to us as we evolve to a higher quality life experience.
  • I found that vagueness did not instill confidence. By demystifying the process we will bring confidence to the process. That is why I try to be real clear about what we are doing and why. Vague concepts, ideas or beliefs only tend to confuse and distract us from the process.
  • In my awakening I observed that "I" or the self is only tension. Narrowed awareness is what causes tension and negativity. Why do I feel trapped in the negativity?
  • I have looked at the power we have given away to language, words, concepts and ideas. Most of the emotional pain we experience is a product of our reactions to words, concepts and ideas. Why do we have such a problem just listening to what people have to say to us, especially when they are offering us advice or help?
  • I found the value of evil and fallacy.
  • I question the effect of a certain ways of thinking on the quality of our life experience. For instance, the New Age people, starting with Jesus, sometimes liked to think of themselves as God or "One with the Father". What value did/does this way of thinking offer? I explored this and other questions and found the value of having the option of thinking like this.
  • Lastly, I examined what love and fear really are from the physiological and spiritual perspective. I have come to realize that any question that has been real and important to all generations of the past and will be important to future generations is a substantial and profound question. The subject of fear is as lasting as any could be. Thousands of years ago Jesus taught, fear not, have faith. People today are still trying to understand how to overcome fear. I have found that understand fear and love is a major step forward in this quest.

It has been said that if you continue to do what you have always done then you will get what you have always gotten. If we do not change our ways of thinking then we will get what we have always gotten.

We are the most powerful beings in OUR inner worlds. We have ALL the power to decide the quality of our life experience. we may not have power over the events of our life, but we have power, if we practice, over OUR REACTIONS to those events. The quality of our life is a direct result reactions, not the events of our life.

This book is about choice, about giving you choices that you may not have know you had. Freedom is opportunity and the ability to choose between alternatives. If you do not know about options or alternatives then you are not free to choose them. Sometimes we do not realize that we have choices that effect the quality of our life experience. I want to just make you aware of some of the choices that I see we could make that add to the quality of our life experience.

It is amazing how much power we have that we never use. Power that we are rarely if ever even told that we have. We may have heard that tired old cliché that Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder. What most people do not realize is that WE CAN CHANGE OUR PERSPECTIVE. Most people do not realize that we can adapt ourselves so that we can see something that before we did not see as beautiful but now we can.

Human beings are amazingly adaptive creatures. We can change ourselves to be virtually anything we want to be. Where there is a will there is a way. Or, as Jesus said, "if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed…nothing will be impossible to you."

That is why I talk about Perfection or the Kingdom of Heaven or Nirvana. I want to say to everyone that it is possible to live in a perfect world, if we are open to it.

I realized that I had to overcome my fear of myself and my reactions to what life offered. It was one thing to see that life can be seen as beautiful and perfect. It is quite another to manifest that truth in our being, to practice loving what life offered in the process of life. I had to develop the courage to be honest.

I saw that I was not the only one who was afraid to be honest. I saw that the biggest problem that society has is its fear of people’s honesty.

This is my story of how I built boxes in my mind, created a prison for myself that offered me only hell. This is about the false and unconscious thinking that created my hell. This is also my story of my journey out of those boxes, out of that prison and to a perfect loving world.

My Story, for I have overcome the world. One can not overcome the world unless the world had first overcome them. I am one who had been overcome by the world. Then, with patience and persistence, I sought to overcome the world’s weight.

Warning

It is natural to resist new ideas and new ways of thinking. Remember, these are just words, a primitive attempt to point at something that is far beyond the words. If you start to get angry or come up with some sort of negativity then recognize that you are only resisting the words. If this happens I suggest that you take a break. Let the book rest for a while until you are ready to go where very few people have gone.
