Today I had my first really great day of speaking on the Venice Beach boardwalk.  I was right on, about as right on as I could get my first day.  It felt really good.

I started with "Religion is Terrorism" and talked about how religion uses the past and the future to create confusion and fear in people so that they can be controlled an manipulated.

Bill Moyers: There is no tomorrow

This story makes me wonder if the Apocalypse the religious conservative are bring about is not a good thing in the long run.  I do agree that there will be troubles for humanity in the short run.  Yet the smart ones will get out of the way and dumb ones will either believe this is the end of the world or try to resist the evil they see coming.

How does one get out of the way?  Prepare for the worst case scenario.  Make yourself flexible and light so you can move quickly and get away from the conflict when it comes.  Do not be like the not so smart Jews of Europe that stayed behind when Hitler was rising up hoping to survive the storm.  Be like the smart Jews who got out of Europe until the storm cleared.

Title: Beyond Wisdom.  Wisdom is only the half way point toward love.  It is not the end in itself.  With wisdom we find peace, but with peace we find clarity that enables us to see the truth that sets us free to enjoy and love all that life offers.

Can we have freedom of speech if we are afraid to listen?  Have you ever noticed that totalitarian countries (such as Islamic republics) are very intolerant of freedom of speech?  Why?  Maybe because they get angry too easily as what people say.  Do we not have that same situation here in America with both the Left and the Right?  Are not both sides of this question intolerant of religiously or politically incorrect speech?

I have found that by relaxing and not reacting, I am capable of not just tolerating thoughts outside the box, but actually enjoying it.  I have also found that the purpose of all spiritual teachings is to teach us how to relax.

Toxic God: The toxic teachings of Christianity and most religions teach toxic ideas like that there is a bloodthirsty savage of a God that demands blood and sacrifice for disobedience.  This image of God, this idol, is what these religious people are taught to aspire to be like.

The Bible itself proves evolution.  The Old Testament gives us the image of God who is a bloodthirsty savage that seeks vengeance and a blood sacrifice for disobedience.  This God is one that demands justice, an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.  Then in the New Testament Jesus tries to create a more gentle, kind and loving image of God; a God that demands mercy, forgiveness, tolerance and compassion.  This ‘proves’ or shows the evolution of thought and image that humanity has gone through just in the thousand year period of the Bible.

Why did Jesus die?  In Jesus’ day they believed that if you said something and someone took offense at it then it was your fault or sin.  But Jesus tried to wake people up to a greater truth that people are responsible to for their reactions to what people say when he said, Blessed is he, whosoever who shall not be offended in me.  This puts the burden on the one who wants to be blessed. Therefore, the sinner is not the person who speaks the words that somebody chooses to react, it is the person who reacts to the words that is the sinner.

Today, we call anger one of the seven deadly sins because we recognize the unhealthy nature of anger.

Jesus died because of the ‘sinful’ nature of the hardheartedness of the religious people of his day and their anger that is a product of their hardheartedness.

There is only one “I”, but there are an infinite number of “ME”s.

I have noticed that the people who still believe in the creator are unable to conceive of or be tolerant of the ideas of infinity and eternity;  that there is no beginning and no end, all things are just constantly changing.

I would like have an exercise where we practice feeling each others emotions.  It would start with a set of cards each was a different emotion written on it.  One person would pull out a card while everybody else would be sitting with the eyes closed.  Then that person would practice feeling that emotion while everybody else would try to feel what the object person was feeling.  Then each person would write down what they felt before all would compare notes.

The next step is t harmonize with the subject person and feel the thoughts they used to create the emotion, then identifying those thoughts.

What is the reason for life?  Why did life manifest?  Why did the first life form come into existence?  And why did it continue to evolve and grow?

Religion is a branch of government to keep people submissive to the tyrants of the day.
